What have we been up to???

Yes I know my blogging has been rather sad lately, but I am all caught up (I think). But I thought I'd fill everyone in on what we have been up to.

Claire has finally learned how to ride her bike. HALELUJAH!! We told her yesterday that she couldn't ride her friends anymore, and she was off. She is doing great, but still needs quite a bit of practice. Owen has been busy with soccer, which means we have all been busy with soccer. We seem to be running from one place to another, but I'm not really sure what we are always doing. Grant has finally learned to have a little bit of independence, and has loved being outside this past week. Yesterday he looked so big in his ball cap walking around. It almost made me cry, but I should be happy because he needs to grow up fast with another one coming soon. I hope the warm weather doesn't go away, but I'm afraid that it will be gone soon.

As for me, I have been busy with work, and taking care of everyone. I had to work at the ticket office the last two weekends, but I am now done until football season starts in the fall. I have been taking care of a family who has seem to come down with some kind of stomach flu, and have washed a million blankets!! I am sooo sick of laundry. I finally finished all of it on Friday, but it returned in a furry today after kids throwing up all weekend. I am hoping that we get over this soon, and now Chad has told me that he isn't feeling well. On the bright side that means that I don't have to cook dinner. :-) I am due in 5 weeks, which means nothing really, but I am soooo ready for this baby to come. My body does not like being pregnant this time, and it is probably quite the site to see me get up in the evenings. I'm sure it is funny!! I'm just praying I don't have to be pregnant any longer than necessary.

Chad has been busy working on the basement, and has accomplished quite a lot. He has the recessed lighting in, and all the sheetrock up in Claire's room. Hopefully I will be able to paint it some time next week, so we can get the carpet ordered, and move Claire down there. I am still trying to get her to not wet the bed, but have decided that is a task I might not every complete. I'm debating about going back to pull-ups or getting a bed wetting alarm. We will see what happens.

So I really didn't fall off the face of the earth, but I just got a little behind. I will try to keep everything updated a little quicker!!

Monster Trucks

Saturday was a big day for Owen it was MONSTER TRUCKS!! He has been so excited for this for quite a long time. I think Chad was just as excited, but I don't think he would admit it. I had to work all day, and sell tickets, so Chad brought all the kids down to show them the trucks before it started, and then he came back with Owen and his dad for the show. The boys had a great time, and Owen can't wait to go again next year. I had a fun day in the ticket office, my favorite phrase was "that is all the seats you have left!!" Seriously people it is the day of the show, and probably the biggest show put on at the Holt Arena. We actually sold out this year, and people were not that happy. It was really sad for me to watch all the kids with their dads have to be turned away because if they are anything like my son, they were really looking forward to this.

Soccer 2010

After our disastrous last season of soccer with Claire we decided that she could stick with dance, and we would let Owen give it a try. He was sooooo excited for soccer to begin. It also has helped that our friend/neighbor Darik is his coach, and his daughter Ellie is on the team. Owen was out in the freezing cold during the first practice and doing everything he was told. His first game was great. He gets right in there, and isn't afraid to go for the ball. I'm pretty sure he even knows which goal he is supposed to kick it into. He didn't play the whole first game because his mom forgot to bring him water, so I won't make that mistake again. I guess during the game this last weekend he knocked down a few people without knowing. The one time he knocked a girl down and fell on top of her, he came to the sidelines feeling really bad that he made her cry. It doesn't hurt that he is aggressive, and that he has a heart. I think we are in trouble!!

Easter Eggs

This year we actually didn't color our Easter eggs until Easter day. We just never got around to it, but we couldn't not let the kids have this chance, even though it takes us about 10 minutes to complete a dozen eggs. Claire and Owen are professionals, but Grant was a beginner. I had read this idea where you put the egg inside of a wire whisk, so they don't fall out. It actually worked really well except for the fact that Grant wanted to keep taking it out and kept spilling the dye. Chad was a good sport and let him do two eggs. By the time he was done with two the rest of the eggs were done anyways. Sadly the eggs were taken out of the fridge at some point, so we never got to eat any of them, but it was still a fun activity.

Easter

We had a very quiet Easter this year. Since it was Conference weekend, there was really no need to leave the house. It was cold outside, so we really just stayed inside and enjoyed a quiet day. The kids were so excited to see that the Easter Bunny had left them some treats. Owen got a few monster trucks, Claire got Beauty and the Beast figurines, and Grant got a new bathroom toy. They each got a book and some candy, and were kept busy all day. We hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!

Clayson Family Easter Party

I worked really hard this year on trying to teach my kids the true meaning of Easter. Yes the eggs are great, but they really did listen, and hopefully it will stick, but you can't deny the pull of a good Easter Egg Hunt. Unfortunately the weather was not the best for an Easter Egg hunt, so we did it inside at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Their was snow on the ground outside, so we didn't think the kids would appreciate that much. The kids had a great time regardless, and then we got to have a wonderful meal to top it off.

I Finally Did It!!

So, if you have been to my house in oh the past year, you know how lovely my kitchen table is. OK, how lovely the chairs are. We have slowly been throwing them away, where we are now to the point of mostly using folding chairs, which I swore I would never do. I guess I am cheap, or scared of spending money, but when our tax return came this year we decided it was time to buy a new table and chairs. I looked everywhere. I found the one I liked almost a month ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to go in and pay for it. Seriously, what if something else came up. But, today I went in, wrote the check, and now am axiously awaiting my new table and chairs to arrive next week. I thought I wouldn't be getting it last week when the water heater broke, but luckily that was a cheap fix. So before anything else went wrong, I spent the money. So watch out soon for my a picture of our new addition to our family. It has been a long time coming, and I can't wait to have chairs that no longer allow you to sink to the ground - what will that be like??
